How to practice

  1. 1.Sit upright. Rest the right hand at the brow.
  2. 2.Close the left nostril with the ring finger. Inhale slowly through the right.
  3. 3.Close both nostrils and hold gently.
  4. 4.Open the left nostril; exhale slowly.
  5. 5.Always inhale right, exhale left. Repeat.

Adjust

The traditional 1:4:2 ratio (4-16-8-0) is advanced. A friendly default is 1:2:2 (4-8-8-0); drop the hold any time breath feels short.

Take care

This is an activating practice — avoid right before sleep. Skip if you have high blood pressure or heart conditions.
